What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Removed engine to get headers coated. Did some bombing to make parts look a little better.

What's the latest on header paint choice? Is the standard ceramic? Does powder coating hold up? Is it the same process? I want that ugly white stuff swain tech puts on but i could buy an extra set of headers after shipping.

Have a productive weekend

White VHT ceramicoat works great whe its cured properly. I took a set of ported 2.02 J heads out of my trucks bin that have been sitting in there for 4 months looking for a time to drop them off at my head shop in Long Beach for a skim cut. Have not been up there for that long. I'll have to find someone more local. What's that usually cost? Just take the head gasket face down to bare metal again, maybe a thou? They are done other than a slight patina on the gasket face.

Hey 72D6Pk,
Where do you pull the hot air from on the new defrost? Im still trying to figure out mine on the fastback. Looks good!
If you look at the photo. It comes from the passenger side rear speaker opening. I only have Am in the car. But I bought a package tray for stereo so I could use the speaker grille in the package tray. Look at my pictures you will see it.

I spent the afternoon trying to find out why my new 950 carb is so rich, especially just at the start of throttle movement. I've leaned out all the primary stuff (IAB, IFR, TSR) and it idles fine at 13.8 but goes way rich (10.5-11) at very small throttle openings and 1500-2000 RPM. Driveability is fine, it's just wasting gas and darkening plugs. :(

Rainy cold day, so indoors. Prepping some rods for floating pins. Reaming to rough, oil holes in the top, then Sunnen hone, install bushings and hone to finish.

The Germans are Coming!!!! Thats my younger brother, he needed his ball joints and end links replaced. I showed him how to do it on the first side and he is doing the other side on his own. We are bringing the mullets back.... he just needs to get himself an old mopar now...

Also if my car gets rained on sitting in the driveway he has to wash it...:popcorn:

What is wasting gas? I think my car goes through 25 bucks of gas in like 5 minutes  I dont even want to know what my MPG's are lol.

Well... anything richer than 14-15:1 at cruise is wasting it... and with a 10 gal fuel cell the range is limited as it is.

With the previous carb (800 DP I converted to 4-corner idle and adjustable brass, new QFT baseplate and a lot of tuning) I was able to get 9.2 mpg on my last tank, almost all at a steady 60 mph cruise. Much less when standing on it, of course, but I can only do that for a few seconds at a time! :p

That's right Doc, its about smg or Smiles Per Gallon!!

And yes Doc...its way too early for Christmas decorations :poke:

Yes smiles per gallon, I'd love to have more of those... to get more id need to get less miles per gallon too:thumbsup:

Not to early for Xmas decorations at this house! We have to set the tone for the new neighbor, so we can see what he puts up and we can then put more up! Haha.

Got this stuff for free! Starting out in the trunk to get some method down. Still need to brayer it down

Does this stuff go on the inside of the fender as well? Kind of don't want to have it shiny there.

Inside of door skins?

Thanks

Absolutely everywhere you don't see it or don't care (inside trunk I don't care or could hide it various ways)
Even under the headliner.....behind door panels. ...everywhere.
People will say "it's heavy..." - add more power.

Add more power? That might offset the advantages of the "free stuff"... Speed costs money, son. How fast do you want to go? :p

Is that sound or thermal insulation? I don't have any in my Dart (except for new front carpet from ACC, and the stock headliner with fiberglass pad) and it's really loud inside, even with tailpipes out the rear bumper...

I lived in Germany for 5 years. Your bro looks like a german even with the hair.

Bought a tool to remove wiper arms. Yes I know you can do it without one. But it was $4 at the local auto parts store. And my car is already painted. They said they haven't sold one of those in 20 yrs. But they still had one in stock. A little dusty too. If you grab the handle and the wiper arm at the same time you take the tension off the wiper arm spring. And it makes it easy to pull the arm off. Probably will never use it 4 times in my life. But to save a paint job and front glass. $4 is worth it.

My buddy and I took the "Golden Oldie" & the "Wedgie" out for a nice end of the season cruise. We found this cool spot for some pics/vids.

Let my friends figure it out what it is when I pass. That will keep them scratching there heads. Lol

I made a few more attempts at dialing in my 950 carb. It takes a while, at least in part because I live 2.5 miles off the 2-lane highway on a dirt road. Still too rich on the transfer slot (and now too lean on the main jets also) but I'm making progress with bigger idle air bleeds... what a PITA. If it weren't so expensive I'd go EFI and just tune from the laptop!

Finally back on all fours.

I had Steer and Gear rebuild my original power steering gear. After 700 miles it started leaking from the pinion shift seal. They paid postage to send it back for repair. They had it two weeks, plus shipping both ways I'm a month down time.
Went for a long drive this afternoon. So far, no leaks.

The 5.9 Magnum still amazes me at how much it pulls. One day I'll get it on a chassis dyno and see how much torque and horsepower it has.
