Ok hate if you want,... but I want to delete the roof trim on my '66 GT, but wanna retain all of the remaining GT specific trim on the upper fender and doors...

what are my options to pull this off? Specifically the drip rail area trim?

thx

I believe you need to remove the headliner or so I have heard.

It's a piece of cake to take off. You're just left with some very small holes to weld up of the roof of the car. I don't believe the drip rail had holes, but I can't recall since it's been so long since I removed it off my 66. IMO that trim is some of the ugliest used by Mopar back in the day. Those 66's look much cleaner without all that GT trim.

A old style can opener? (if I remember correctly)

Yes getting if off isn't the problem... Its what to do with what remains to finish it off and ditch the "y" trim corners... Is something from a "non" GT or other early "A" that can be used??

The drip rail trim from a Dart 270 hardtop would eliminate the “Y” trim

I have had thoughts of adding it to my 170 to do two tone paint, Turquoise bottom and white roof.

I think only the 170 models had no upper chrome.

Isn't it crazy, If you have a 170 you want it look like a GT. If you have a GT you want to take the trim off. I like the 2 door post cars but a 2 tone may look sharp.

I believe the Y trim and front trim from the GT will even fit the drip rail of the 4 door

I would only consider the roof trim if I did the 2 tone. I wouldn’t do any of the other 270/GT stuff ( fender spears, or upper fenders trim) I like the basic look of my 170
