The Disuster

Those EL panels run on 110V-125V AC. Theres a power supply inverter in the dash to make em run. Its a box with an aircraft style cannon plug. Thats the most common problem with these, the panels, and illuminated pointers rarely fail.

some more assembly

New side markers, Painted trunk, Cleaned up auction wheel covers. Waiting for a new buffer pad set and then it's time to start considering the engine bay.

Dang! That looks great! I wasted the Spring and Summer and did nothing to my Dart and you passed me up! I've been packing and doing home repairs so I can get my house on the market. This really gives me some much needed inspiration. Quite a transformation. When I was cleaning out my garage I found out my Dart quarter panel was for a Dart Sport. I wish I had checked earlier, I could have delivered it to you!

Got the dreadful job done. I am at least relieved that I was able to color sand my inexperienced paint job into a pretty decent one haha!

Engine-out and bay painting planned for Christmas break. P.S. I'm actively looking for a rear bumper!

Your car turned out nice, I am stealing your idea of the cloths pins to bond the trunk seal on.

I agree, the body and paint turned out really well. Aside from the engine compartment respray, what's next on your agenda.

I need to finish the interior next. I have an 8 3/4 that I'd like to put in it. Then at some point I'd either like to build a hot slant or find a 318 with a 727.

If I can make a suggestion, 1991-1995 318/360 magnum V8 with a 1991-1995 46RH (A518) overdrive automatic, then you can run 3.73s in the back and still cruise at 2,500 rpm on the freeway. The magnum V8s are machined with LA V8 mount ears on the block, a regular vacuum advance electronic distributor fits, and they make intake manifolds with a magnum head pattern. Find a shot Ram Van or pickup with that combo. You have to mod the trans crossmember to fit. The OD trans uses an A727 sliding yoke

Hmmmmm.. much to consider! Is that an electronic transmission?

46RH is hydraulically shifted. Theres a kit to make it go into and out of O/D and lockup. It has 3 normal gears like a regular 3 speed when O/D and lockup are turned off. It's based on the A727 3 speed. The O/D unit is on the back of the trans. Lockup solenoid is for torque converter. Heres pic of the 42RH I got out of a dakota. Its A904 based. 0The neutral safety/ reverse switch and wiring plug are the same as what's in your car. The second plug has 3 pins. Center pin is common hot, fwd pin is lockup solenoid, rear pin is O/D solenoid. Pic shows location of solenoid wiring attached to plug. You can see neutral safety switch on the side. It's a fair bit of work to get it to bolt in, but you have the welding and fab skillz to do it. Most people fab up a new bolt in crossmember, and use a mid 1970s 2wd GM pickup truck trans flat biscuit mount since it's a bolt up to this trans. You can use a lokar cable kickdown. Newer than 1995 I believe is the 42RE and 46RE you dont want one of those. You also need to get a center sump V8 oil pan. Not sure on the magnum engines I think they all use 318 spec pans. I think theres a sticky on fabo on the mopar O/D trans swap. Putting one in a 1969 barracuda. 25" tall tires 225-60R15, and 3.73 gears. My math says it will turn 2,400 RPM in O/D and lockup at 75 mph.

42RH will work behind a V8. Has a lower first gear since its behind V6 pickups. But with a V8 and 3.73s it makes a bit more lively out of the hole.

Also because its hydraulically shifted and only has the 2 solenoids to put it into overdrive and lockup you can wire it manually to 2 toggle switches. Around town you leave em off. When you get onto the freeway and above 55, you turn them on. Instant lockup and O/D Below 55, you turn them off, it's back to a 3 speed. Any aftermarket 3 speed floor shifter with linkage brackets for A727 A904 will work on a 42RH 46RH. Your stock column shifter will also work. Even the transmission pans are the same as the 3 speed transmissions they evolved from. Your stock shifter lever off your A904 will fit right on the 42RH 46RH and it's in the same spot.

I'll be dagummed if that didn't actually turn out pretty good!

Considering the next steps here. Engine bay still needs rust work and paint, but I dont want to do it until I figure out the cars future. I didn't want to get rid of the slant 6 because everybody does that, but the more I drive it the more I really get the urge for burnouts and on-ramp power! Hmmm what about a Gen 3 Hemi...?

It's really crying out for some cragar S/S wheels and raised white letter tires. Even a mild built 318 would be better than the 6 popper. People give away teeners, but you can build em to be solid performers.
