Need a /6 valve spring compressor...

-
I've always had good luck with the Parts store U-borrow-it compressor tool. Good Luck

I prefer the big C clamp design, but I also like the overhead cam style for shaft mounted rocker engines. They work well, expecially if you're leaving the head on.

I got this one from Amazon. I used it on one set of BB heads and two sets of slant heads so far. It works well, but you do have to set the gap correctly, like Goldilocks. Not too tight, not too loose. Other than the operating handle needs to be wider so it doesn't try to cut my hand in half, it works well.

That's a goodie. This Lisle one works pretty slick as well. Good for on the car use.

I have one like TMM posted above and one like slantsixdan posted a link to. And of the two I use and like the One TMM pictured hands down. But neither of those work for multi spring setups they won’t grab all the springs to compress them so there’s really not one do all spring compressor.

Right you are. I should have mentioned that. Single springs or singles with dampers.

And I might add if on the bench the one RRR and halfafish posted is probably the best one if one is all your gonna own.

My bench one is like this, just a standard issue. If you do much head work at all these stands work great. I have a pair just for fun. I think they are around $20 a pair on amazon.

Mike, do you have a link to these? I just looked around, but only came with with about $50 delivered?

Yeah again, like I've already said! Good Luck

Ya, i got one like that, and it worked well. I think, since i have the head off, the clamp style might be easier. But this style works well enough and cheaper!

When you need a valve spring compressor and the parts stores aren't lending tools due to Covid and you have no money.....
Large c-clamp and a scrap of Ikea wood.
