I have a 72 SCAMP had 225/6 originally, installing a 360 magnum, never had front sway bar, what sway bar kit and size are most of you using for this application?

It depends. What's your intended usage for the car?

Restomod, street driven only, shows, parades etc.

In that case, I wouldn't go really big on the diameter. Maybe 1" or 1 1/8" at the most. I just put an 1 1/8" front bar on my 64 Valiant and I like how it drives. It might would be a little stiff for some people but I like how it really flattens the car out going around turns. Going to put the rear on next.

let us know how that goes, and what size bar you choose...

How do you find LCA's w/ SwayBar Tabs for Early A's?

I just installed the Hellwig 5906 front sway bar on my 72 swinger. It does help to flatten the nose in the curves and works as intended. I didn't find it to be as "bolt-on" as some. It uses a couple of factory holes in the k-member to mount the brackets, and you mount the "tabs" through the LCA shock bolt. So no welding is required and you can use standard LCAs.

I had to move the brackets in board about 1" inch and drilled new holes, otherwise I couldn't make the geometry work. If you find the factory holes work you may have to open them up a little. By moving the brackets in board it cheated the sway bar closer to the k-member, and created a clearance issue with the sway bar resting on top of the valance support bracket. I had to put some bends in the bracket and shim it to gain the clearance back.

Otherwise the 5906 does tucks itself above the valance bracket and is not visibly hanging underneath (for 70-72 cars).

I also received the wrong brackets with my bar. I contacted Hellwig directly and they sent me replacements no questions asked, so I give them points for customer service.

I've decided if I ever pull the motor on this car I'll re-install the sway bar and weld the brackets on in a better position. But they will bolt on and work with some fidgeting.

What product/kit did you use?

I used the Addco bar I bought from a member here. I would have gotten Addco anyway, because of the cost. Their mounting hardware leaves some to be desired, but that's easily overcome with a mod or two and some better mounts and bushings. There's nothing wrong with the bars themselves. Certainly not worth another 150 or so dollars for the Hotchkis or another brand.

Thanks Rusty, looks like it will do what I need. The KYB's took alot of the float out, now I'd like it to be a bit more stable side to side. Front first & we'll see about the back. May go to the Florida Mopar show in Ocala this weekend & see what's there.

That's probably not a bad idea. You might just find a deal on something.
