ahhhhh yes.....but notice my questions do not start with ...why? I love to see how different hot rods are built, the challenges and the solutions, not just here it is....all pretty. This is a magazine build where we get to interact. Lovin' it!
 
Hadn’t planned on a magazine build at first, but then I thought “why not”? It very well may be a magazine car, but I’ll assure you it will be driven because that’s what they’re for. So if you see the Dart or Charger parked in front of your shop don’t be surprised. COVID notwithstanding.:thumbsup:
 
Set the Charger at ride height last week, sheet metal work begins this week.

looking good!. You must have the front wheels really tucked in or are the front wheel openings gonna get a little massaging for lock to lock turning?
 
The wheels on the car are just rollers, but you’re right about turning radius.
 
I like what the mid-70's Pro Stock builders did. They stretched the front wheel opening to the front by moving the front of the wheel opening forward and adding plus / minus 4" in the middle. Then they moved the front axle centerline forward 2". That allowed for not only a good size tire, but additional clearance right where the tires want to hit that curved fender lip. Added bonus of moving the centerline forward..... more room for the rack.
 
Too late in the game I think for me to be changing the wheelbase but who knows.
 
More progress on the Charger, headers are done, firewall has been roughed in and the rear wheel tubs are in.

Here’s a couple header pictures. The right header is being fabbed, the left has the high bend and is complete.
That’s the steering shaft under the left header pipe.

remember what the Late, Great Mr. Hoover said...."Everyone should have to build one set of headers, but no one should have to build more than one".

Are you doing the header fabrication?
 
The exhaust is about done, mufflers will go behind the rear end.

More progress. The drive shaft was installed this week and the exhaust has been run back beyond the rear end. Going to do the gas tank next then finish the exhaust.

Very Nice Build!
Did a search of 8HP70 to se if I could spy what trans cooler people are using with their 8HP swap... Auxiliary Cooler only, Radiator + Auxiliary, Radiator only, with or without thermostatic bypass valve???

Will be watching to see yours but digging the entire build for now.

To accommodate the transmission, the entire floor pan and firewall came out. With the full perimeter frame the engine was moved back 5 inches and dropped 2 inches to clear the hood. I'll post pictures next week.
