904 shifting linkage questions

I’m doing a 360/904 swap in my ‘65 Valiant. I’m using a 904 out of a Charger but I can’t remember the year, and my Valiant was originally a /6 904 column shift car. Can I keep the steering column that I have and use the column shift from it? It’s the dual cable. I’ve thought about getting a floor shifter and replacing the steering column collar but I really want to keep the column shift for the leg room in the middle on my bench seat. No, ur 65 uses cables. The newer tranny uses linkage. Kim

Floor shifter or newer steering column.... or find a cable shift 904. I think the 65 used different length cables than the earlier push button arrangement, but the cables can be swapped around.
