72 duster MSD

have a 72 duster and have installed a Mallory distributor and MSD 6AL box
Currently the car doesn’t have a ballast resistor and if I wire both red ( big red and little red) together to the battery all works great except I can’t shut it off ( I temporarily installed a toggle switch) but if I hook little red wire up to 12 volt switched, when cranking power drops to low to start it. Need some help where can I pull power from to run MSD while on the key switch

This question comes up on this board about once a week. The "run" wire, usually dark blue, IGN1, GOES DEAD during cranking

There is a second wire, usually brown, IGN2, which is the ballast bypass circuit for starting. It is hot in "start." It is NOT however, the same as the start wire, but rather a separate circuit

It originally connected to the ballast at the coil side. You must jumper IGN1 and IGN2 together and connect them to your small red MSD wire

NEVER connect the large and small red together. The big black and the big red must be to a good ground and to battery "hot"

Also, never leave ANYTHING connected to the coil EXCEPT the two MSD wires. Disconnect tach or radio condenser or anything else. ONLY the MSD wires are to be connected to the coil
