ya i know. if they try to ship that scamp as is, they'll destroy it

when i bought my shoddy pad, or ac firewall insulation i remember the description saying get rid of your old asbestos shoddy pad and use ours. i thought thats great i was breathing asbestos particles when i had my vents open and windows down in my barracudas in the 80s

mopar also used asbestos in brake shoes, pads til the mid nineties

so maybe we will all come down with mesothelioma

i wouldn't doubt all the factory undercoating would test positive too

Having done a corporate move to Australia in 2013 there is nothing like it. No dirt on shoes, bicycle tires, etc... or anything. The import of our Cocker Spaniel was a $10k quarantined affair. They found "dust" on a $20 synthetic Christmas wreath and wanted $300 to "clean it up" or lose it. Well by... Pitt bulls, of which I am not a fan but have known a few great ones, were not allowed to be moved in country. That said, it was amazing to see the pit more often than any other breed when we arrived there. Don't ask me about buying my first firearm...

I could have sold my Lancer to some Australian early A fans for an extra 5K, but taking 2 years to get it done and all the hassles, I was happy to sell it to someone in the USA.

And don't think for a minute that the tree huggers in the upcoming administration aren't going to start working on some anti-old car regulations for us. They have been trying to get rid of our 'polluting' old cars for years. It's only a matter of time before they try.

This is exactly what I posted some time ago about...
"The closer we get to the election, the more I think about something that has been a concern of mine for quite a while. If the "left" i.e. AOC and others like her get into powerful positions, allowing them to implement their far left (environmental) agendas, our love of cars may become a thing of the past. There were rumblings from the left several years ago, about removing older cars from our highways, along with having to take your newer cars to a government approved repair facility to be worked on. No more owner maintenance. I remember a petition at an AutoZone in North Arkansas, asking for signatures to send to State Representatives to vote against any bill trying to enforce such action. There are in fact people in the government (given the position of power) that would do just that. It could happen...most never thought they would see our country in the state of the chaos we are experiencing.

You can not ship bird feathers or any advertising that includes pricing for any items sold in Canada (packing material) to Canada.

Why a 245 Aussie Charger? 265 at a minimum, they also came with a 318, 340 and a 360.
yeah. I though the 245 was a more rigid platform but go E49 265 six pack~ Faster than the 340 (debatable) over there. Sure would be close.

Add this to the list of places I never want to visit.
Id love to visit there: Almost made it there in '89 on a West-Pac pump but we had engine trouble and had to spend some more time in PI, not bad but it aint Oz! 4 months away from home and the chance to see some women that looked like some hometown girls with accents is hard to pass up.

The 245 was the poverty pack engine. Gutless.

The E49 265 was faster than the 340, but then it was blueprinted, hand built, broken in, stripped down, checked and re-built. Triple Webbers, 4 speed close ration gear box and a Limited Slip Diff with 3.23 gears.

The 340's where initially shipped over from the US to Oz for a race program that never got off the ground. Dumped in a 770 SE, ie a Gentleman's Cruiser. Intentionally strangled so as to not show up the 265. Its a crying shame really. Where the 340 to get even half the attention of the 265 it would have wiped the floor with the 265 and won them Bathhurst.

My 770 was a 318 car but now running a 340 and an Aussie BW 4 Speed. Just need the LSD now.

6 month Western Pacific deployment with a Marine Expeditionary Brigade/Force: Korea, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Australia...Hawaii on the way back. Sometimes at sea for 30 days in a row. Talk about blue balls! East coast Marines did Med Floats (Mediterranean area, sometimes Africa)

I was on an helo carrier in San Diego, got out the end of '89. Unfortunately got on a ship going into dry dock and never made it more than 50 miles off the coast before I got out. Wonder if we ever crossed paths (assuming you were at the 32nd Street Naval Station as well).

Ah ok. I wondered if it was Oil related as thats why I was down in Australia.

We dont often do 30 days at sea these days, but regularly 21 days. This year due to Covid I spent over 90 days in hotel rooms in either quarantine or self isolation waiting to go off-shore, this time it was 28 days before I arrived on-board.

Blue Balls indeed. :D

Tend to agree with you, I actually owned an R/T 6 Pack 265 4 speed Charger back in the 80s and my good buddy had an E55 340 727 auto Charger at the same time. If we lined them up I could only just edge him out with a perfect launch and light. Otherwise if his car got off the line well you couldn’t haul him in! As for the 340s being intentionally strangled, that’s not true, they were large valve high comp 69/70 build engines (installed in 72-74 model cars) no doubt that a better exhaust and non std cam would have helped but Chrysler Australia were really focussed on the Aus built 6 cyl development at the time which was really driven by Federal Government local content rules. The 340 race car may have been something they toyed with the idea of but it was quickly abandoned and just became the stuff of myth ever since. For me I’d take a V8 package over the 6 anytime!

A single Exhaust, no LSD and a 727, dumped in a 770 is strangled compared to what the 265 got in the R/T. Which was a tuned triple webber 265, close ration 4 speed, HD suspension, Brake proportion valve, LSD etc.

So yeh, strangled. Even then it was a close match. Give the 340 half of what the 265 got in the R/T and the 265 would not be the legend it is today.
