To the OP, if it's going into a 4x4 just make it fit. There is no room in those trucks anyway. Sounds like it going to be street driver? You won't gain much between 2" and 2.5" as there is a lot of **** to get around. I'd keep it simple. Anything Dakota 4x4 is a pain to work on. If I remember right the exhaust was the same size on a R/T back to the CAT anyway. I just put and exhaust on a 1997 3.9 2WD Dakota and I was surprised to see the listing for all 2WD trucks where the same. So anything that will fit is good. Just try not to crimp anything. If you look at a stock y-pipe it is total **** the way they smash it to fit. Go 2" if you can make it fit and you will be custom making the rest. I tried a set of block huggers on a 1995 Dakota with a 318. They did not fit will. It's going to be custom anyway you look at it.
