Shop dog... name ideas...

Bring it home and get to know it's personality for a few days and give it a name that matches it's personality...

When I first got married, my wife gave me a Dalmatian for Christmas, knowing that I had a few when I grew up... Then when I went to see the dog at the pet store, they mentioned that they had another in back and I asked to see it... That one looked similar to the one that was my best friend when I grew up and couldn't leave it there, and couldn't leave the other, so I decided to get the other one also.... (When you can't decide, get both....)

We brought them home and spent some time with them... One was male and the other was female... We called them boy and girl for the first week....

My male was sort of a clown and while playing with him one day my wife said, "Come here Buster Brown".... I thought that matched his personality and we named him Buster....

The female had many sides to her personality, so I named her Sybil after the woman you hear about in psychology class with the 7 different personalities.... She could be sweet, bossy, sneaky, playful, caring, protective, etc...

So I recommend getting to know it before you name it...

Wife and I have done the same thing with some of our dogs.
Our oldest was adopted from the SPCA at 10 weeks old, he was very shy and timid at first. He had been called Zeus by the folks at the SPCA, but it really didn't suit him. We watched him for a few days, considered different possible names for him before deciding on Dunham, because he just seemed like a real comic, both in his behavior and his physical appearance. He will be 12 years old next month, and his days are surely numbered, but he's still the same goofy mutt we brought home long ago.
Our middle boy was 11 months when took him in, he had belonged to a relative who could no longer keep him, and coincidentally was also called Zeus, and it didn't fit him either. Within a week I renamed him Charlie, which quickly morphed into Charlie Brown, perfect fit.
My girl came to us almost 2 years ago, also from the SPCA, and had been named Olive, she is still called Olive since it really suits her well. She don't take no crap from the other two, or the two Great Pyrenees males that my wife looks after during the week, even though they weigh twice what she does she still kicks *** and takes names.

As for suggestions, Ratchet comes to mind.
