340 oil pan questions

Keep in mind, Kevco will custom build you a oil pan to your dimensions, I've done a few for oval track chassis with the engine moved around. In your case, a full depth "box" style, with good baffling would be ideal.

Correct on the baffling. I’ve had some box pans that were big bucks that had junk baffling in them.

My custom built box pan with a 1.250 full length kick out was garbage until I added two baffles and changed two.

It had no baffles to force oil towards the pickup when you left so the oil all went up the back of the pan and block. And the first baffle in front of the pickup was too far forward AND it was vertical. I had to weld a 1 inch piece across it at a 45 degree angle to keep the oil from blowing right over that baffle on the brakes.

When I called the pan maker about the ridiculous baffles, he assured me my low 9 second car didn’t need any more than what they designed.

He was wrong.
