[318 LA] main bearing info needed

Greetings im putting together a 1968 318 and was wondering what is the absolute best main bearings available ?

This is a pre-74 so it uses different bearings versus 74 and newer
part number is suggested bearings would be appreciated this is a high horsepower 4 speed set-up , thanks Chris

No they are P series.

Clevite P-Series main bearings are the oldest members of the Clevite 77 bearing family and are intended for high-revving engines. To compensate for the high-load factors and distortion in these engines, these bearings have higher eccentricity and a high crush factor. P-Series bearings are constructed of tri-metal cast copper lead. They have a steel back for support, a cast copper lead lining to withstand the loads of engine operation, and an electroplated babbit overlay on the running surface to provide searing surface qualities. In addition, the oil grooves on most applications extend all the way around both halves for better oiling.

Clevite P-Series main bearings are an ideal design, producing a degree of conformability, embedability, slipperiness, and fatigue resistance, not found in original equipment and competitive bimetal bearings.

I am not familiar with the H series. I saw "Nascar" listed in the description and might be closer to a race only bearing. I see Stampede doesn't have mains listed in that series. Makes you wonder.
 
Running basically a 340 crank in a 68 Block !
In a 318? Your machine shop will need to drill a lot of holes to get it balanced. The 68 318 crank should have a forged crank and be close to balance already.
 
Okay! Are you running the ‘68 340 crank with the Molnar rods and having 340 dome pistons made for a four inch bore? Or are you going with the 3.2 inch chrome-a-shaft with the 6.2 inch SBC nascar rods?
 
You right Garrett other guy probably thought I was building a 30 over [318 ] with Crane fireball cam

I just used 340 crank for reference only yes [ Glidden 3.20 ] crank it has Mopar casting number on it
 
You're building a engine combination like that and you are asking what kind of bearings to use? What does your machine/ race engine shop recommend?
 
Sorry, my bad, I think it's a 333
stock 3.31 stroke you are right
I believe [90 over] 3.20 stroke equals 321 CI.

Ok I see it now (in your deleted post) You have a 3.20 stroke crank. Yes that makes a 321.7 Sorry.
 
3.20 stroke !!!!! Its a 340 crank with custom stroke !!!!
I use 340 quote as a reference
I know all about the 340 [3,31] stroke I have 3 steel cranks

just used the 340 reference for bearing info etc because the blocks are different or was changed throughout the LA lifespan
 
If the crank has a tapered radius choose a bearing with the right chamfer. Stock cranks did not have a chamfered bearing.

you may also want to use a later #3 thrust bearing if it can fit. I believe they have a wider thrust area to take more loading.
