Noticed the other day that both front markers on my 68 were off when the headlights were on, rears worked fine and the parking lights up front worked, just no front markers. Bought new bulbs to replace them, but can't figure out how to get the old bulbs out. It seems like they should be able to push and and then twist to come out, but they dont want to push in significantly or twist.

I did check them both for bad grounding being the problem. The passenger marker lit up when I plugged it in and then grounded the housing to the frame. Using the exact same method, the driver's side didn't work. (yes i made sure I have voltage to the marker) The driver bulb is visibly burnt out. I have the lens off of the light I just can't get the dagum bulb out.

Sounds like they're corroded in place. Remove the assembly and investigate. You might need new sockets.

You could have the wrong wires connected to them. There are two plugs, one for the turn signal bullets on the fender and one for the side marker. Get out your timing light and test or turn on your turn signals to see if the side marker flashes.

They connected right, I tested both bulbs on the same wire, different results

Just dig the bulb out. Then judge whether you need to replace the socket assy, they can usually be cleaned up. It wouldn't hurt to put some reg or dielectric grease in there too.

I'd soak it good with WD40, then just break the bulb and jam a big screw driver into the bulb base, push, turn, and work it out.

Pulled the markers off of my spare fenders, only one was the bulb assembly, the other was just the lens. Unfortunately it didn't work, so I had to break the bulb, and replace it which was a huge pain, the new bulb didn't want to seat down far enough to be able to rotate into place for the longest time. Got it all functional now. Thanks for the input
