Pushrod for hydraulic cam and 273 rocker arms

No fuckin dice at Summit. The advertised length is not even close. Will be ordering custom ones from OE
 
If those are your heads in the pics the adjuster is down way too far
you want less than 0 threads showing with those long neck adjusters
re-masure with your adjustable pushrod with the adjuster up to near the max
3 thread adjuster were much shorter from the ball to the threads
and as a very wise poster said- send your adjusted adjustable pushrod to the mfg or at lest a diagram showing how you mesured
pushrod cups are different depths so overall length can be different

from a thread on Moparts so a little more than 1/4"

and if you do not have oil holes under the arms- both sides- drill them
I prefer Magnum/AMC lifters and oil through the pushrod oiling for the adjuster ball
they smoke way too easily

The further you go out/down, the more RATIO you are losing...
Sometimes you burn up adjusters and can't see the problem?
Oil in the cup and they still wear out?
Change them for another set and the problem goes away...
Maybe its metal to metal contact of similar steels???:drama:
Hard cups, soft adjusters or the other way around...:lol:WHO knows...:realcrazy:
 
I just set up a 340 w/273 rockers yesterday. 68-340 block decked about .006 , .053 felpros , j-heads , lunati hydraulic lifters. Perfect overall pushrod measured 7.125. Nothing off the shelf available. Used the aformentioned 7.190 proform pushrods. will work with about a 1/2 turn showing .
 
I just went through the same issue with my 273 build. You need 1 1/2 to 2 threads exposed after 1 turn preload. I ordered mine from OE Pushrods. Excellent price and quality. Buy the way have overall and working length available when ordering. Working length= overall- cup depth.
 
what does being able to see threads have to do with correct geometry?The longer your adjuster the more leverage on the weak neck between the threads and the ball. If your geometry is right
and no threads are showing and there is no metal interfering with correct operation you should be golden...or am i missing something

I think it's all about having clearance between the cup and the rocker arm. 2-3 threads seems to be golden .
