Sounds reasonable. Start a sale thread with some pics and $1000. You can always come down. Hard to ship so pick up would work best.

Always try to sell the stuff before you pull it. Running and driving always eases the buyer and can sometimes command better money.

If it is a real commando engine and you can prove it, might get a few more dollars.

If it is 65 - older, less desirable, 66 - newer more desirable

You got $750 in vc's, intake, distributor, rocker arms. If it's a true commando, $1200 running GOOD....easy.

This right here^^^^^^

Everybody always lists an engine plopped on the floor minus this and that and says "runnin engine"....my big old butt. If it cannot crank and start and run WHERE IT IS AT THAT MOMENT, it's a core and nothing more than that. I don't care if it ran yesterday. If it won't start NOW it's a core. Period. Price accordingly.

I'm with Steve. If it's runnin and runs good, I'm thinkin 1200 minimum.......I might start at 1500......1700.....you can always go down. Goin up's hard to do.

Curious to know the year of the set up. Any previous rebuilds...over bore etc....? Thanks

The 273 with the high-compression Pistons is worth about five or six hundred bucks at most. I look at it like this... what are the valve covers worth? what's the intake worth? what's the Chrome air cleaner worth? The manifold are run of the mill, 125 bucks maybe....now add that to the run-of-the-mill price of a 273..

See?

iam looking were you going to find one all together, and running?and the car you have came with that motor in it, and you need it for your restore. iam not parting it out ,selling everything together. thanks everyone for there input

I love finding good running engines for my collection of beasts! I an not afford machine shop work!!!! If I had just one old Mopar I guess I would do what so many do, spend so many $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on that one car!!

Don' need no dam engine test run stand!!

On the other hand................

I pulled a 215 straight 6 out of my 46 Chevy pick up and put it up for sale. The buyer wanted to hear it run. Setting on the driveway with a 4x4 under the front of the pan I fired it up. It purred like a kitten. No radiator, fuel hose stuck in the lawn mower gas can and a jumper wire from the starter post to the coil. Booster cables and a screwdriver. He bought it.
