My 360 build

Looking good! Did you deburr the new holes you drilled in the oil filter plate? Last time I did one, I was fiddling with it after I drilled it out....and drug a hunk of skin out of a finger tip with a sliver of steel left in it! I took a chain saw file to all of my new holes and smoothed them up. You can bet I'll look from now on.....lol.

Yea mine was pretty bad too. I deburred it with a 3/8 drill bit then went back over it with a round file.

I had a piece of wire-wheel bust off and stick in my eye, had to have it removed with a big needle and it left a rust ring. Doctor had to scrape the ring out. Be careful folks.

Nice job dartfreak75..got the pistons by the way. Thanks and Happy Holidays

I got a piece of metal in my eye from weed eating one time had to have it surgically removed was not fun at all. I always wear saftey glasses doing anything like that now. Especially wire wheels and angle grinders!

Thanks I'm glad you got them. Hope you can put them to use!

Progress Progress :)
Im hoping get it in the car before Christmas. I still have a long list of stuff to do but im getting closer. I still have to clean and paint the transmission crossmember, put the transmission back together i got everything apart and cleaned i just gotta put a new filter and pan gasket in. I have considered taking the valve body apart and putting a new shift kit in it but I think I'm gonna just hold off on that till I see how it does. If im not happy with it I can always put a shift kit in it with it in the car. I still have to get a starter and clean and paint all my pulleys I will probably work on that tomorrow. I think I'm gonna order one of those ebay mini starters and give it a try. I dug my old original starter out and tested on it and its not turning so either its bad or im testing it wrong. I gotta do some research on that.

I've still got those valve covers if you want them.

Good news i tried to test the starter again and it works (bench tested) come to find out the battery i was using was dead. Lol so I pulled a different battery and it cranks right over and expands and extracts the engagement. So im gonna clean it up and use it. Im pretty sure it's the starter off the 318 truck. I should have my original slant 6 starter somewhere but idk where. I do remember replacing the starter in my old 85 maybe I used the slant 6 starter for it and ditched the old one.

Getting some work done on the 360. I got the timing cover, balancer, water pump, and oil pickup on. Learned a valuable lesson, the pickup will not go on with the oil pump attached to the block lol I had to take the oil pump back off but I got it on now. I set it just shy of 71/2 inches my oil pan measured dead on 71/2. Does the balancer look fully seated to yall?? I got it as far as it will go looks ok to me but want to double check with yall.

Yes, balancer appears to be fully seated. Build is coming along nicely, looking good.

Here are a few more. Ok stupid question and I think I know the answer but just want to make sure. With my head gaskets no matter how I orient them the front water passage is covered by the gasket is that normal?

They block that front Passage so that the water doesn't come right out of the water pump and go right back to it.

Do those Pistons have two different size valve reliefs one size for the intake valve and one for the exhaust. Or are both of them the same size.

Same size I believe. I never measured them but they look the same to me.
