Hello to all,

First, I want to thank so many of you on this forum for the advise I have been given in my project!!
Its not an A body.... its a 87 dakota 4wd 5sp.....
But never the less, I have received so much help and information from many of you and this forum.
Below are 3 pictures of the Engine. It's all stock. I literally did a backyard rebuild.
Took it apart, cleaned up with a pressure washer, Honed the cylinders, and checked things as best as I could.
Replaced the following
1. Cylinder heads (new stock replacements)
2. Turned crankshaft kit.
3. New, rings, rod, cam, and main bearings, new oil pump, timing set, gaskets, and freeze plugs.
4. Edelbrock 7577 intake
5. used holley 670
6. HEI distributor
7. Waterpump, AC compressor, Belt, and idler pulley.

Again, thanks to everyone!!

Oh! Very nice. I used a Edelbrock 600 AFB, a trap door air cleaner and Hooker Super Comps for my B body into a H pipe 2-1/2 exhaust. Do! Take some time with the distributor. I set mine aggressively @ 18* initial and let’er rip.
“WOW! That was nice!” I said to myself.

Thanks Rob..... I wish I could run long tube headers, but with 4wd its not gonna happen. And thanks for the tip on ignition.

No long tube headers for the truck, OK, just run the pan out the best you can then, it’ll do!

The hot ignition tip? It works in conjunction with air and fuel, it is really to run as much advance as you can so long as I shows improvement then limit the timing to approximately 34*’s which would is not in stone. The advance curve should come in as quick as the engine can handle in the vehicle it is in doing he job that needs to be done, drag, off roading, mileage...etc...

Add a high energy, multi spark ignition for best low rpm performance and mileage, try wider and wider plug gaps on your favorite spark plug (start with the stock heat range n what ever manufacturer your using) until it starts missing, then back up .005. Re-tune carb or readjust the FI to maintain a proper balance.

This can be verified via, a dyno tune, drag strip performance or long mileage testing trips.

Enjoy!
