I have a 413 and 727 from a 1972 motorhome I'm tearing down and was curious if there was a market for the heads, manifolds, and other hard parts for these engines? I was planning on just tearing down and keeping the block, crank, rods and pistons and rat-hole-ing for a rainy day. Wanted to put this in general discussion prior to opening a classified ad because I didn't want to waste time if there wasn't any interest. I'm not really familiar with the motors.

Those heads are supposed to have more cooling around the plugs iirc. What's the casting numbers?
Back in the day, before all of aftermarket companies flooded the internet with aluminum alternatives, those were the ones to get.

These are not standard BB mopar heads - they are taller and physically different heads.

Gotcha. I remember what you're referring to. Thanks for setting me straight.

The heads, exhaust manifolds, and intake, and water pump on those is a completely different setup. There is coolant in the intake, where the "regular" B / RB engines have the head crossover, and there is a temp sender port near one exhaust manifold, which is also wet. The heads have ports on the front that connect with the water pump, which mounts "up higher" than a "regular" B/RB

Also they use the large 18mm tapered seat "Ford style" spark plugs

Good refresher!
Those have been so far off my radar. I forgot they existed.
I had a phord guy try to sell me a "rare big block" way back when...
The way he went on about it, I thought he had a max wedge or something.
What a disappointment

Just remember they never wrote a song about a 440!!!!

That MIGHT be because in 63, when "that song" was released, there WERE NO 440's. Might not have been any 426 wedges yet, either!!

Never wrote one since '63, either!!! 426 wedge was around for the '64 model year as I recall.

Block, crank, and rods is about it. Pistons have a HUGE dish. Balancer is thicker, sticking pulley out too far. 727 is a keeper. Should have the heavy four pinion planetaries.

The intake exchanges with any other RB, the plugs are like a small block, not ford. The pushrods are longer and the water pump is different. The rockers and shafts are regular B motor.

Well I have news for ya. SOME of these engines DO use 18mm plugs.

The small block Industrial versions do use the ford plug.
The big block ones I’ve seen use the 3/4 or so threaded plugs like a normal small block.

that’s the news I’ve got for ya

Stuff that complete 413 industrial engine down in your 3/4 ton or 1 ton dually and pull your race car to the track. You can hook a house on to the back of the trailer and pull it along with you too.
