The most bullshit thing about those smog systems that the EPA mandated ALL diesels have, it was done at the begging of both Navistar and International, because their V8s just couldn’t meet emissions in 2016 without all that crap. Meanwhile, the 2016 6.7 with the advanced head design was 13 percent UNDER the EPA allowed emissions on average across all parameter, and 27 percent on carbon alone. So Navistar and International lobbied HARD for the EPA to make it across the board simply because they couldn’t compete on the efficiency standards with the 6.7 Cummins. Our test trucks were averaging 25 mpg before they came in and made us install that stupid urine burner. That dropped us to 14 with that one install on our truck.
