Stop in for a cup of coffee

That's a nice rememberance of Buddy...

I still have the last birthday card that my dad sent me... It had a picture of a Dalmatian on the front and the caption said, "Do I smell cake"???

Then when you opened it, it wished me a happy birthday and he had a paw print of my male Dalmatian Buster on it... That was the last year my dog and dad were alive... I've saved that card and put on my refrigerator....

My dad loved Dalmatians as much as I do... He loved when I visited and brought my Dals with me... One time I didn't bring the Dalmatians and he asked me why??? (I felt like I was being questioned in the First 48 show).... So after that, I always made sure to bring the Dals with me... Dad would take care of them the whole time I visited... I kept food bowls at dad's house for them so all I had to do is bring the dogs and their leashes when I visited.... Whenever I came to visit dad, I would ask the dogs, "Who wants to go to Chicago???" and the dogs would run for the front door and I would let them out and they would jump in the back seat of my car, ready for a road trip.... When I got within a mile of dad's house and opened the window so the dogs could smell the forest preserve, the male would sometimes would get excited and howl with happiness in anticipation of seeing my dad and staying here for a visit... He could tell by the smell that we were close to 'grandpa's house'....

When my wife and I were going through our divorce, she was trying to tell me that my male Dalmatian was in bad shape and we should put him down... I didn't agree and was afraid that she would take him to the vet and have him put down one day and I would find out when I came home from work and he wasn't there... So I asked my dad to look after him so she couldn't have him put down behind my back... He lived another 3 years with my dad.... (Coincidentally that dog and my dad had the same birthday also)....

My dog and dad died before my next birthday... I'm glad that I kept that card, it's the best reminder of my dog and dad....
that is a nice story of your dad and four legged Buster, good riddance to the ex brother. You have a blessed day
