Broken '65 Dart Wagon Tailgate Torsion Rod

Hey everyone,

My title pretty much says it all...it's not a big deal, but has anyone repaired one of these? It's probably not worth my finding a used one and shipping it, but mine has snapped off at the far end, right before where it anchors in the tailgate. Could I MIG weld it back together and clean it back up? I guess I've never tried to repair a torsion rod before. Thanks for any input...
 
Being it’s a torsion bar, i doubt any weld would hold for long. If it’s apart now would be the time to replace it. If interested i have a torsion rod that came out of a CA tailgate

What does the torsion bar look like? I also have a extra tail gate
 
Just an update: 65 Dartman has a used torsion rod and is kind enough to sell it to me. :)
