I'm working through a problem with a custom traction control system I'm putting together and can't seem to find urethane eye bushings in the right sizes.
Here's I what I'm doing...
I moved my leaf springs in against my frame rails for some added tire clearances. I did this by modifying the front hangers (moved the stud locations). Now I'm making a modified version of Caltrac traction bars (link type) that I want to tuck inside the hanger because they can't go outside like the normal design. To do that I need to shorten the front bushings slightly to accommodate the bellcrank plates and trust washers that will be on each side of the plate between the hanger and the leaf spring. I'm using new replacement leaf springs that have an 1.50" front eye bushing, and have a 5/8" bolt (ESPO Springs and things 6ply 2.5" over height).
My problem - I can't find urethane bushings in 1.50" diameter, for a .875" diameter tube for a 5/8" bolt. I don't even need them to be the right length - I can make them shorter. They'll need to finish at 2.0" long. I'll even make the tube for in them if I need to.
Anybody know where I could find something like this - I've searched the web and it looks like when I go to a 1.50" diameter bushing it pushes me down to a tube for a 1/2" bolt.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff

Two solutions . Custom aluminum bushings, or drill the urethane for the size you want. It sounds like you are after drag race traction, i would lean toward the aluminum.

Drill the bushing to accommodate a sleeve to accept the 5/8 bolt.

Thanks for the input, but I don't want to run aluminum bushings on the street, and you don't just drill out urethane.
I looked at PST but couldn't find anything. As I mentioned in my initial post, I poked around on the web and couldn't find anything. I'm hoping someone that offers something sees this thread.

I've drilled urethane bushings with my drill press. If it already has a sleeve in it, take it out. Get the sleeve to accept a 5/8 bolt, drill according & prees the sleeve in.

I was able to find the bushings I need - just need to make the tube with a 5/8" hole for the bolt, but the hole thru the bushing is the correct 7/8" diameter.
If you are ever looking for any suspension items I recommend suspension.com. Very helpful.
Thanks for all of your suggestions!
Jeff
