having trouble with only high beams working, low beams make some relay chatter, which I believe is headlight delay relay. where is this relay located, 72 dart.

new floor switch, when i put 12v light on wire in plug its flashing instead of steady

I’d goto mymopar.com and check out the free wiring diagram for your 72 Dart. I miss read, need to go back to school lol.

my low beams are not working, i've got a shop manual with the electrical. it looks like low beams go thru that relay, where ever it is. weird problem

"Headlight delay?" You talking about the warning buzzer?

Do you have documentation on this? I cannot locate it.

(That is I've found mention of the relay but no wiring, no documentation)

I've never seen the headlight delay option on an A body. There is an headlight on buzzer option for A body but is pretty rare. I looked in my 72 Factory chassis manual at the wiring diagrams. Here is the headlight on buzzer option for A body diagram. Here is also the headlight delay option diagram for C body. I have never seen that on A body.

looks like i got models mixed up.. still looks like a relay problem because voltage is varying and i hear clicking, will investigate further.

^That is what I found^ When I said I could not find it I meant relative to A bodies

I wonder if you are on the wrong track with relay........maybe what you are hearing is the breaker in the headlight switch?

This could be that you have a short in the low beams wiring. It would be rare, but I spose it's possible to even have a shorted headlamp

A's don't have headlight relays do they? That's why so many add Crackedback's relay set up to their cars.

look on page 8-148 at the top.. what is the time delay relay for?

I don't have my book in front of me. It's at the shop and I'm at home for lunch. I'll be back at the shop in a while and can look.
If you have the H/L on buzzer option I think that is before the dimmer switch and should not matter if lights are on high or low beams, I think.
Your dimmer switch could be defective even if new.

i think i pitched the old one, have to check. pretty cold today, think i'll wait till tomorow to do any more troubleshooting.

There is a time delay relay for the light on the ignition switch so you can see where to insert the key after you shut the door but the dome light is now off.
That’s the case on my 68, not sure if 72 has that or not, but could that be what you are talking about?

Part of the AO1 light option and yes was available for 72.

That is "key in" light lights up the interior of the ignition switch. I don't remember anymore, if it affected dome or not

Ya just the time delay for the ignition switch light and seat belt light if equipped. Nothing to do with the headlights.
