Daughter is looking at buying a used Dodge Dart (new dart not an A body dart). I dont know much about them. Looking for opinions from people that have had first hand experience with them.

My wife bought a new turbo one with a 6-speed manual, good car, we had no issues with it.

I Like the look of the little new Dodge Darts
and I have a female friend that likes hers, but aren’t they basically a Fiat design with Dodge logos? Or is it an Alfa Romeo Julieta? It did not sell well and their profit margin was pretty small so it was discontinued after only four years of production. Also it did not get great gas mileage.

If it was my daughter, I'd spend the extra coin and put her in a used AWD charger

I would like that, but its her money. She just cant afford one of those.
Got access to a car auction, they can be had there for a good price

But I hear you
I just went through this with my niece
She was looking for a used car and had about 6 grand to spend

The very day she comes home with a Toyota of some sort, I spot a '12 AWD charger on the list for 6k, with about 80k on it

(this is the best i could find near you)
2012 Dodge Charger SXT+ AWD Showroom New - cars & trucks - by owner... (craigslist.org)

But like you said, her money, her choice

I see "new" darts all the time.

Must have sold OK.

I heard the same thing about the jeep renegade- not selling well and being discontinued.

2 years ago, and they are still making them. I see those everywhere, too.

What engine does the turbo Dart have?

My '15 Renegade shares the platform with the Fiat 500X, but you'd be HARD pressed to find any similarities with them sitting side by side.

1.4 turbo six speed manual.

Better power to weight ratio than a 318 Duster, and 34.5 MPG average.

I think it's a 1.4 turbo.

They shoulda made a radio delete, heater delete, vinyl floor mat, manual crank windows version with a 5.2 Magnum or 5.9 Magnum, or even a Gen 3 hemi.

I would have bought one.

Trouble is hundreds of thousands of other people would not have bought one that stripped of options. The cost to make one car or even 50 cars with so few options as it rolls down the line would cost more than just plugging radios in each one. The different door panels or plugs they would need to stock for wind up windows vs switches in the arm rest also increases costs. Remember almost all car companies are in business to turn a profit and that means selling a car that the masses will buy.
