OP has not priced k-cars lately.

I always loved those cars. Handled well and you could drive one 15 hrs in a day and still feel good when you stopped. 318's had no catalytic converter and would get low to mid 20 mpg on the highway in 1975 when set up right.
Handled well?

g'ma had a pretty blue one when i was a kid, g'pa originally bought her a red cordobra but she made him take it back said she wont driving no ***** colored car lol true story! dad totaled it in a ice storm but had it fixed anyways, then g'ma hit a big truck with all 4 sides in another ice n snow storm, totaled it again! she liked that car better than her next 2 that were cadilacs! dad bought a 75 charger SE from a friend, it was a good car to till my sister hydroplaned it cross some bodys front yard knocking the right quarter pannle outta line couple inches. id love to find one that ant rusted out comfortable cars for DD use!

I had a ‘79, 2 tone, beige and brown. It had everything except the 4 bbl., moon roof and tow package. Excellent car. Then I got me this below.

I bought if I remember right a 1977 from my Dad. 400 dual exhaust, towing gears and he towed a 28 foot Avion trailer with it. White with green velvet bucket seats I bought it to replace my 1972 Cutlass Supreme that I was towing my Duster with. I owned it for about six months and sold it. It was a spotless beautiful car (condition wise) but being in my 20’s I wasn’t ready to settle into an “old man’s car”.

Rob, I once owned a 79 Magnum XE fresh off the showroom floor. It came with the Lean Burn 2 bbl 360 & it was anemic after driving my 70 RR. I pulled it into the garage & started stripping off all of the emissions stuff, this included the lockup 904 & the 2.41 8 1/4 rear. I stripped out all of the wiring harness except the Ignition start & Ignition run wires. I built it back with a B body 8 3/4 with a 3.55 sure grip, 727 RMVB, sub frame connectors, 15 x 8 1/2 & 15 x 7 Centerline autodrags. It was my DD for about 6 years until I got bored with it, sold it & got back into older A & B body Mopars.

I have a '76Roadrunner that I will post in the "Mopar car for sale"thread. All body/paint work done, drive anywhere car.

I use to (still do, just not frequently) buy them for under $1000 and pull the engines. I just bought a 1979 300, which is a Cordoba with stripes and a little performance. The one I got has a 1968 440/727/8 3/4 suregrip. Had a small engine fire. So it’s a good donor, for sure! I do regret killing some of them but they weren’t worth anything 10+ years ago. They are comfortable and a far better build quality than the early cars.

Too bad you are 2/3 of the way across the country or I'd be interested in the big block K frame, sway bar, and T bars.

They interchange down to '73.

good to know....

...and so do the rear sway bars.

They'll go to '71 with a washer welded in to the mount.

yes, 1973-1979 are the same suspension. This car has the rear sway bar too. Wish you weren’t on the other side of the country too! I’d sell the rest of this car, cheap!

so a '78 BB 'doba K-frame fits in a '73 Satellite?

Yeah, you can unbolt the isolated K member from a Doba and bolt in to a 73-74 B body. Córdoba, Magnum and 79 300 are B bodies too.

That's cool to know. I knew they were B-bodies, just didn't know they swapped K-frames.

Some people just have to hate on old Mopars built after '71 with a few exceptions. Beak nose Dusters, any Roadrunner after 70 or possible sometimes 71 or 2, etc etc. and usually because of the lower HP and new net hp ratings, or people just listening to the "its not a real car" thing! But the later 70 B bodies were some pretty nice cars in general. Yes built more for a cruiser than a race car, but by then the muscle car craze was done for its time. Not every one has to be a boy racer!
The later 70's B bodies are not than common to find. But they drive nice.

Agree Barbee6043...
Some of these people read too many magazines and take the writer's word as gospel. Get in one and drive it, then formulate an opinion. I had the opportunity to drive an ex diplomat police car with all the police car upgrades. It was not an overly fast car but it sure could handle for a 4-door of that era!

^^^^I have had bout all of the Mopars, and I once did have a 73 400 base Charger 4 speed car, but actually the 400 had been replaced with a 383 by PO. It was one of 75 had it been original. Then I had a 73 or 4 Charger 318 4 bbl AT car. I liked them both both what they were. I usually build my cars from projects, these were bought done. That can be a great way to get a good driver as we all know.
I agree a person has to drive and decide for himself what he likes. I also made the mistake decades ago to let other people and mags bend my opinion of what I LIKED!!! You only have to please yourself!!

I am currently going down that rabbit hole. I think it was about 15lbs. worth of wiring under the hood I removed.
I purchased this XE as a dealer dressed up GT car from the first owner. He kept amazing records for almost exactly 10 years. The mileage was 324K. The car has a amazing story.

I’ll take that big block K frame.

This is correct. However, when I was going to the dealer for parts, the Magnum was called an “X” body in the books. All Magnums have a “X” in there vin number.

I guess it's like the 340/360 debate. Some old timers will dislike 360's till the end of time. Their choice :)
