paint code for petty blue

If pettybludart's car is in original color, the paint code will be noted on both the fender tag and the build sheet.

Purists cover your eyes or scroll past. This is my 2ยข worth.

The closest thing I've come across to Richard Petty's blue race cars is phord's Grabber Blue. The 1972 paint code for this paint is J.

This is my 72 Road Runner GTX, bought it new, still have it. Build Sheet, Fender Tag, and Monroney sticker all say TB3. Top pix is the car when I pulled it in the garage in 1998 when I quit driving, and parked it. Bottom image is 2007 when restoration that started in 2003 was finished. I used Dupont Chroma base/clear coat and the paint store used a data sheet they had for TB3 Chrysler paint. Before I went to the paint store I cleaned up a spot on the roof, trying to get back to the original color, as far as I could tell.

On the "Petty Blue" thing, may be urban legend says since Chrysler made the Dodge Daytona the first winged car, Petty wasn't able to race one since he was a Plymouth driver. So in 1969 he went drag racing for Ford. In 1970 the winged car was the Plymouth Superbird and Petty came back to the Mopar camp. Again, this has NOT been verified by the "Donnie Baker, I swear to God it's TRUE" fact checking system!
