A little while ago I was sitting in the house and my wife came in from work and said "hey honey I think there's a Dart or something broken down across the road. I thought maybe it was you for a minute."

We live in the country on 5 acres. Really? Well I need to go check this out. Wondering what kind of Nova or Studebaker or whatever is really out there.

Grab a flashlight cuz it's good and dark, walk on out the driveway, shine the light down the driveway, well damn she's right! See a Blue car with a white GT SPORT stripe????
By this time there's a truck shining lights at the front of the car, guys are under the hood. I walk up, he says hey buddy I hope we're not bothering you. I said hell no, you're in a Mopar country! What do we have here? I've already seen the GTS badges and now I've gotten close enough to see the big block. AND the 440 hood badges. WHAT?

Start chatting, he says yea it's factory '69. Huh, what? Factory M?

Yeah. I've had it for 40 years. Says he raced it for a while, I see it has a roll cage and fenderwell headers. No backseat, sheet metal. Been sitting for awhile, decided to put it back on the street, messing with carburetor, etc. Just ran out of fuel. We say our goodbyes and he fires it up, heads up the road. Gets on it a little bit.

Good Lord.

Guy just lives right up the road. Hope he stops back by like he said he would.
Of course I didn't get pictures. Why would I carry my phone with me? What a dumbass

I got to say I'm pretty damn impressed that my wife knew it was an A body, even in the dark. She said I'm glad I was right. I knew you were going to come back and give me a hard time if I wasn't. LOL

I was going to call BS until I read that he just ran out of gas. We all know mopars dont break down.
Odd coincidence for a mopar to break down in front of your house, much less a rare car like that.

I don't blame you. LOL. I'm still sitting here shaking my head a little myself.
And I will say I didn't check the guys Vin tag or anything. That would a been kinda dicky. Haha. Even if it was a fake I really don't care. It was a cool car. And yes a hellva coincidence.

Obviously has a replacement sender in the tank! Probably still read 1/4!
Ha!
He did get a laugh when I said if you need an ECU or ballast resistor I can help you out. LOL
It was the carb running out of gas, I think. He had been playing with tunin the carb and timing for the street.
