Random project thread - no car related stuff

The first project.......since I was twelve, I've only had two jobs, one of which was a cook. As such, I've been known to be a bit enthusiastic about all things food. A few years ago I built this pantry, it's 7' tall, 2' deep, and over 6' wide. The pantry was full to overflowing to say the least. One danger of something like this, is that anything receding more than half way back on the shelf becomes invisible. Once entering the Dark Dimension, it may never reappear. During COVID, I was looking for something and realized I wasn't out of refried beans as I thought, I had 13 cans scattered in four places. This harkened back to a few years ago when I discovered I had 26 cans of tuna fish, all of them forgotten in the Dark Dimension.

So a few weeks ago I decided it was time to fix the mess. I took every scrap of everything out, sorted it by category, threw out the stuff that was YEARS out of date, and cleaned up the pots, pans, and other tools of the trade. Who really needs six crock pots? I'm down to just two now, one large and one small. Here's a photo of all the stuff as it came out of the pantry. It filled to overflowing a 42" round kitchen table, a 4' folding table, a 6' folding table, a full size pool table, and about 20' of shelving running down the side of the pool room. The photo below doesn't do justice to the situation, it only shows about 20% of what came out of there. EVERYTHING in the photo is food one way or another.

Once done, here's the new layout. The new rule in Chez Halfafish is nothing gets stacked up to conceal what's behind. No shelf can have hidden areas to allow a new infestation of the Dark Dimension. Everything is arranged by date to allow stock rotation. And really, I need to simmer down on being well stocked. The Red Army isn't likely to show up unannounced for dinner. It's not necessary to have provisions on hand to host dinner for a hundred at the drop of a hat.
