Qa1 uppers. With 17x8. 67 dart.

I don't have a set of QA1 UCA's, but I do have a set of 17x9's with a 5" backspace on my Challenger. These pictures should give you a little better idea of the clearance. The spindles are 73+ FMJ spindles so the hub face to ball joint distance should be the same as an A-body, even if the UCA's aren't identical. If anything a regular 73+ A-body disk spindle might have slightly more room, as the FMJ spindles are slightly taller from the center of the "axle" to the ball joint. Sorry about all the dirt, flash rust and cobwebs, my poor Challenger went from daily driver to parked for 5+ years when I decided to replace the rusted floor pans, frame rails, roof etc. and the cleanliness of the suspension has not been a priority.

I think a 5.25" backspace with the QA1's will be close, but possible (this is 5"). The other thing to remember is the portion of the "cup" that sticks up above the weld isn't really all that structural. So, if you needed to clearance the cup above the level where it's welded that wouldn't be a huge problem. After all, most tubular UCA's do not have that large vertical cup protruding above the ball joint.

I know that members here have run up to 5.7" of backspace on 17x8's with other UCA's, but there has also been talk about running flat zerk fittings to clear the rim. Based on what I see on my 17x9's with a 5" backspace I don't know that I'd try more than 5.25" with the QA1's. At least not if I had to buy the rims first!
