904 vs 727 column shift linkages

Weird, man. I stuck a 727 into my 67 and the floor shifter out of the 904 seemed to work just fine. Never occurred to me it was "different." I don't remember, tho on kickdown, as it was not long before I went manual VB and then shortly after, Cheetah after a brief stop with Hurst.

Yes, I had a 72 Challenger back in the 80's that we converted from 318/904 to 340/727 and all of the console linkages were interchangeable... So I assumed that the column shift linkages would interchange... But I was wrong....

Everything seems to be different on column shift from 904 to 727... :BangHead:


Right now we have the proper 727 z-bar and first linkage rod, but we are having trouble getting it into park and being able to start it... I bought a complete linkage for a 727 for the other kid's Valiant conversion and found out that the other linkage rod and trans bracket are different as well... :BangHead:
