Yeah sucks the end is shot. I would think if you can get a good one from Loganscuda its rebuildable. I bought a column bearing, I'll see if I can find pics. With the outer mesh being collapsed and the end of the inner tube pooched, it was probably involved in a front end accident at some point.

Heres pics of bearing I found on ebay for like $8+shipping. It has set screws? I havent started work on either of my columns yet. So cant say for sure this would work/help? Only place I would have found the # would have been on here lol. Do a search on here with that #

I honestly can't tell what's going on at the end of that piece.

Where the plastic bearing slides on, the smaller diameter section, yours appears to be longer and has a metal ring, the thing you cut through.

Also, on mine the plastic bearing is not 2 different diameters like yours, and the spring is between the plastic bearing and the inner column collar.

Is yours from a 67 manual column?

Yes it is a 67 Manual steering. Column shift

I have a 67 floor shift pwr str column I can take a look at and post pics if it helps?
Sure, can't hurt, always good to learn something new.

I don't even know if there is a difference in column shift to floor shift.
I imagine that inner sleeve is different.

Anyone know if a power steering inner column can be modified, cut I guess, to either use, or just use the lower portion of the shaft?

At the lower end of a steering shaft is a pin tightly pressed in. Just above that is a pretty weld bead all the way around. Right there is the difference between a manual steering shaft and a power steering shaft. That end piece that is welded in/on is about 3 inches shorter for power steering ( the weld is much closer to the pin ).

Ok, right where it tapers to a larger diameter?
Crappy pic is all I have of mine at the moment.

For some reason this power steering shaft looks the same as mine: Steering parts
