In the "somewhat evidently honest but out of my mind" dept

It wouldn’t take long to determine if the car has been VIN switched and is an old reported stolen car.

Any auto theft investigator with both VIN’s could call NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau) and do a record search. NICB records last forever, they don’t go away. This is how cars that were stolen decades ago get recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

This piece meal car could be that some smuck decided to put something together and sell it, or, it was stolen years ago and put on ice till they thought it safe to put it up for sale. Until somebody runs both VIN’s, nobody will know.

Perhaps someone in the northern Idaho area knows someone that is an auto theft investigator that can put a bug in someones ear and if it is stolen, some lucky guy/gal may get their car back.

Bottom line: Buyer beware,
