How to Route Tail Light Wiring per Factory Method?

I thought the harness came straight up under the passenger compartment. However, the photos I took of my own '65 Formula S a couple of years ago appears to show it going into/out the driver's side wheel well. Is that the way the factory routed it? Thank you.

My 67 has clips running over the wheel well similar to that, with the load area it pretty much need to.
I can't comment on the specific routing on the early cars.

10-4 I have a 66 Barracuda and thats how mine was routed. The new one will have better sheathing.
