Surface rust prep before sound deadning

-
I'm stickin by Rustoleum. It's cheap and very effective.

After replacing the rear 1/2 of the floor pan, we wire wheeled the pan, used POR -Patch as a seem sealer and coated the pan in POR-15 then the fat mat.

I used the noico 36ft sound deadening I liked the way it went down. Bought a roller also. I used the rustoleum rust converter on the floor boards. I still haven’t drove the car with the sound deadening though.

I went the route of comfort:
- Firewall to bare metal
- Rustoleum primer
- Herculiner
- Noico 80 mil car Sound deadening mat, Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener
- Noico RED 315 mil (8mm)

Noico was by far the the most cost effective and had great reviews both on this site and amazon. I've taped the seams since and did a little more clean up but don't have pictures yet. I didn't buy the roller and had no problems installing the Noico deadening mat with a scrap piece of wood that I took the edges off of.

Clean floor with wire cup on grinder, wipe with wax/grease remover from the "real" paint store, epoxy prime if you are fancy, topcoat that with Rusteoleum or SS urethane. Too cheap for carpet? Then spray a coat of BodySchltz over it.
Works for me.
