i thought i'd share a purchase i made today because i think it's a pretty good deal some of you might consider.

i've been wanting a "car Rotisserie" for a long time because - well, the "real" car guys have them and they are a wonderful tool that makes working on these old mopars SO much easier. but of course, these things have not been cheap, in fact, most of the ones i've always looked at were around $2000.

but right now, Eastland auto body in central Pennsylvania is having a Christmas sale on all kinds of bodywork stuff and tools and they are offering a new Titan Rotisserie for only $1050.00!! AND - the best part is that this unit is rated at 4500 lbs. lifting capacity which is the highest i've seen on one of these Rotisserie units.

with tax and shipping (which was like $250.00 to Pittsburgh, PA) i think total cost for this thing was around $1400 which is still pretty cheap for one of these things. some of you guys that have been wanting one of these tools, this might be the right time to finally make that purchase.

i've purchased other things off of Eastland and have had a good experience with them. last week i bought their 18 lb. parts cleaner/tumbler unit which i'm going to post a comment about once i try it out. there's going to be a LOT of nuts and bolts and small parts on the two 69 Barracuda's that are my winter project right now. i'm looking forward to throwing those parts into this tumbler to see how well it cleans parts.

here's a picture of the Titan Rotisserie i purchased. when i get it and put it together, i'll post some more pics.

That looks like you could put a whole dang car on that thing and be comfortable working on it! Looks really heavy duty. I'm liking the design too.

yea, most of the units i've looked at are only rated for 3000-3200 lbs. 67-69 fastback Barracudas come in at around 3400 lbs and i've wanted a rotisserie unit that you could put a complete car on with motor and trans still in it with maybe the doors, trunk and hood removed since those are easy items to take off and reinstall. i think this Titan unit at 4500 lbs should hold my 69 Barracuda with the 383 and 4 speed still in the car. i will post more info once i get the car on this new tool.

congratulations , you won't regret your purchases . And , when you are finished with the rotisserie you can recoupe some or all of your investment . good luck

They grow up so fast... snif...

Just messing, that's awesome, I'd love to have one and some day I will. If I have to build one, I'm going to have one.

That's a nice one, Jim. That'll hold up the whole assembled car.

Any idea what gauge steel is used and the quality of the welds?

i know what you mean about steel and welds - a lot of chinese stuff is made from junk steel and the welds look like blind people did them. blind people can do a lot of talented things - but welding isn't one of them. when i get this thing, i'll take some pics and post them to show what kind of "workmanship" - or lack thereof went into this rotisserie.

Love the wheels on that beast. It got real old pushing those things around with little steel casters on it.

Congratulations, I just bought a new autotwirler for my current project. I got the Floorpan in and the subframe connectors in and I am ready to put the car on the rotisserie. At my age working alone it's pretty much a necessity. I have to bring the work to me, flexibility is gone.

LOL! I FORGOT TO WARN YOU!! the above video features several "yutes" who apparently love "heavy metal" rock... LOL! sorry... i had to turn the sound down... but hey - maybe you like the heavy metal stuff... LOL!

Mine was made with 2"x2"x1/4" tube and the slip tubes were 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x1/4". Cost about $250.00 back in the 90's . Downloaded plans from internet for $12.00 . Payed to have it cut and TIG welded , casters about $90.00 . About $500.00 invested . sold it 10 yeRS later for $500.00 . Can't do much better than that .

How much does an empty barracuda shell weigh?

this is the Arizona car shell that i sent to AMD when they restored my m car. i had it in the parking area behind my house before the truck came to get it and it was very easy to move around. i can't imagine that this shell weigned more than 800 lbs.
