400 Hp ( Street 318 ) Build !

-
Thanks @RammerJammer75 , excellent shot. I see to no real surprise that the dome is a high one. Taller than the 340 replacement slug they offer. (245 ??? )

thered be more 375 to 425 hp 318s if erry body that wanted to build one wont talked into a 360 or a stroker! lack of good pistons gets tossed out like there unattainable but theres enuff options to be able to build what ever combo ya want if you look for them! then theres the "cant breath valve shrouding" myths and the "tiny bores" line ect ect! then theres the 340 or it ant chit crowd but a .060 over 318 is just 8 c.i. less than the 340! the 318, the deadskins and buddy arrington, 3 biggest underdogs there ever was....

That's the forged Icon.

My 318 has less compression, 9.4-1 but it does have more cam, and edelbrock heads, but not that racier, 89 octane fuel, street car, drove to and raced at the track, i am not sure how much power it takes to run 11.70s in a 3000 pound car.

I am going to be building another one next year with more compression, so it will interesting to see how it runs.

Well according to my calcs the same as my 340 made at 3550lbs>
367fwhp@3000lbs
60 Foot E.T. : 1.63
1/8 Mile E.T. : 7.40
1/8 Mile Trap Speed : 91.81
1/4 Mile E.T. : 11.73
1/4 Mile Trap Speed : 114

A lot of digesting..... I think I might have a little indigestion :(

Dulcich told me the heads were ported to within an inch of their life and the Dr.J pushed the shortside too hard and they sprung water leaks. The engine in that config never made it into any vehicle. You heard correct. J.Rob

That sounds about right. Funny how they always make it sound like it's somethin the average guy can do in his backyard.

I've never had a 318 on a dyno.
I have built a few.

318s have low output because of the
3 C's

Compression
Camshaft
Carburetion

#1 being Compression....all 318s were 9:1 or less.

Custom 318 pistons are pricey.

Someone really should dyno a 10-11:1 318 combo, but not many people buy custom 318 pistons though.
