Tig welder for a beginner

-
Im gonna buy one of these, they are dc only so no aluminum, but it's a plasma arc tig combo and is 110/220 voltage which is nice. And it has pretty good reviews. It most certainly isn't a professional rig but for beginners and hobbiest like myself it should be a good learning tool. After Christmas im gonna save up some money and buy it.

I suspect this is lift arc tig. Defininetly not for beginners.
My esab is lift arc dc. No fun at all. I should have bought a more deluxer mig. And left tig to the professionals.

Ever used a plasma cutter? Once you do, you'll try to use it on everything. Gotta have a good air supply too. As for the welding point, my thoughts have always been buy the best welder you can to get the strongest and best welds you can, especially if you're welding any structural parts.
I actually just bought one a few weeks ago and used it one time. Went out to use it the next day and the pilot arc wouldn't work so I boxed it up and sent it back. Im gonna buy another one after Christmas im broke right now!

I've got one that didn't work out of the box, tried to get it fixed and couldn't, so we got another. Love it.

What brand was it i got one of the cut 50 but I got the old style torch after reading the reviews the old torch was flawed and they updated to the p80 or something like that the one I received was a p60 its junk! I was gonna just have them send me the updated torch but the new torch had a different plug style it was 2 prong the one I got has three so I said screw it I will just buy a new one and get my money back.

It's a Mac Tools. I'm not 100% sure on who makes them for Mac. I'd dare say toolmanmike could tell you.

I don’t know. I started with a $200 harbor freight DC machine with lift arc and did pretty well with it. The biggest limitation was me and my skills not the capability of the machine. I’m a tungsten dipper. Once the arc was struck it was up to me. I will say that it was not very convenient to start and end the weld but in between it was all up to me. I much rather have a high frequency start or something else but if all I can get is lift arcI think you should go for it

If you can afford it, this is the way to go. 3 in 1, plenty powerful for just about anything that you will throw at it. Welds up to 3/8" steel, so great for farm equipment repairs as well.
