Looking for a good exhaust system fitting to stock exhaust manifolds (not headers) and the chrome exhaust tips. The car is a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340. Would like to have Magnaflo mufflers and clamps included. Any ideas?

On the Demon 340 4speed I have I used TTI 2.5” and “H”pipe and the delivered kit mufflers- Dynamax. They fit awesome with the factory manifolds, clean and are a nice set up with factory tips.

BUT when I had the 3.23 gears the mufflers (I’m guessing) made a serious drone noise like a “won....won.....won” at lower rpms in 4th. Mostly like 50mph and 1900-2200rpm.
I changed gear ratio (3.91) and it went away. I could had been my cam - but the Napa exhaust and mufflers on there previously did not do that.

In my 66’ Barracuda with 318, auto and fuel injection. TTI “X” 2.50” system with manifolds, and 2.45 gears. When the car labors, same drone.... same mufflers.

I really love their exhaust but the mufflers are to me “just okay.” Order it with the mufflers you like.
Good luck!

When it comes to the mufflers, you have to be careful to differentiate the brand from the model. Dynomax Ultra Flow's, Magnaflow and Pypes Race Pro's all have the same welded case, straight thru, sound deadener packed design and therefore the same sound. All three will have a significant drone at a certain rpm level.

However, dynomax also has a crimped case, non stainless Super Turbo muffler that is very quiet. Pypes is also working on a welded case version of that muffler and will be the first of it's kind on the market for anyone that will be needing a kit come mid Summer.

Pypes also has a 2.5" stainless system for the A-body as well as 2.5" stainless OEM style tips. However, currently we don't have the downpipes for the 340 A-body. Anyone want to volunteer their car for a couple days for us to design a set? :)

Call Waldron Exhaust. They made my factory exhaust. It fit really nice. About 60% of the cost of Accurate system.

That's a good point. If you have a totally stock vehicle and just want a stock looking and sounding car, Waldron is a good choice. Gardner makes exact show quality systems as well but I think their mopar A-body kit applications are limited.

It all comes down to how much fun you want to have with the car. If you cruise to shows and park it or get point judged, OEM system is the way to go. If you are a Saturday night cruise-in person and like to be noticed when you come and go, then you probably want a mandrel bent aftermarket system as you will usually save money and pickup anywhere from 25 to 50 hp over an oem system.

Yeah, mine is a nice weather daily driver. I bought their Impostor mufflers which are louder than stock. I like the sound. I am not trying to squeeze that last 10% out of mine, so stock exhaust works for me. I just want low maintenance. I hate headers in a-bodies. Just not enough room.

I used Accurate head pipes hooked to a summit 2.5" header back kit.
It sounds good, I only had to buy an extra 1' of straight pipe to hook everything up.
I also put collector flanges on the Accurate head pipes to the summit kit, to aid in engine/transmission removal if needed.
I also fully welded all the joints, so no clamps except on the mufflers.

where are you located?
i have an entire summit 2.5 kit for sale

(you would need to fab up some downpipes, or go with a set of full length headers)

On my 10 mustang V6 I used the Pypes cat back system with the violator mufflers and it had a hell of a bad drone 1800 to 3000 we added in some 15" stainless steel packed Resonators and that helped a lot but I would have used an H pipe instead on an X pipe don't like the sound of the X pipe

Yikes! Violator mufflers with any v6 is going to yield some pretty bad drone. Not something I would recommend. Sorry you had to deal with that. :(

Even on a V8, the Violator is not for the shy. ;)

Yap as I found out I had found no comments any place about that and found out the hard way so is it the shoter straight thru non packed mufflers that are the worst? This is where I'm having issues with figuring out my exhaust after I drop a 360 in my duster

Regarding your 340 Demon. The TTi website lists your application with turn downs on tail pipes. There is no other choice.
67-76 DART, DEMON, DUSTER, SCAMP & VALIANT Exhaust Systems (Line 1I-1L)
1IH-pipe with Mufflers, Turndown, angle-cut 2.5" $ 710.95 Part # A25M WM6776
Are these the ones you ordered and used? Did you cut of the turndowns and install factory tips? Were your tips factory or aftermarket replica such as the ones TTi offers for 2.5" ? Any mods required for proper fit such as bracket or hanger mods?

So I used straight out the back for the TTI tips. I called TTI and spoke to Mike who runs the shop. Honestly I can’t remember if I got the turn downs and had to cut them for the tips or if there were different tail pipes for the tips. Going back a few years ago now. I bought thru Mancini Racing. Call them and ask- another great company to work with.

I will contact TTi.
Did the TTi tips use the original frame location for the hanger mounts?
I looking for system that not only fits perfectly from factory manifolds back, but will utilise original factory tip hanger mounts and tip location. If there is anything else you can think of I would appreciate? If you have any pics I say thank you again
Again thx for helping me out!!

Sorry this is all I have. I think the tips slide on the pipes and the pipes have the hooks for the factory mounts. I will be at the car tomorrow and can check then.

That is the issue for me. I would like SS 2.5" exhaust from factory 340 manifolds to factory tips. I have only found TTI offer this complete set in non-stainless. Both Pypes and Flowmaster offer SS set but are header back style.

Have you talked to TTi about custom bending your complete exhaust in stainless steel? They did mine in 304, still looks new today. They said just add "SS" to the end of the item number.
