I think they all use some form of woven cloth, whether its made up of fiberglass, kevlar, carbon fiber
or anything else you can think of. They use those materials because of the resistance to heat and fire.
Silica is nothing more than sand ground up into a fine powder.
No, i haven’t used a carbon fiber blanket as I’m a lousy welder. But I have worked with carbon fiber. What I do know about carbon fiber is that it hurts like a ***** if you get a strand in your skin.
I think that your choices are limited.
