Like many, I have collected some extra parts during the time I've been restoring #projectvertfish.
I recently met Steven who is 33 and lives about a 1/2 mile from me. He's recently sold his sooped up Honda and taken on the job of bringing his 68 fastback I call #projectgoldfish back to life after many years of hibernation.
Over the past few months we've become fast friends as I mentor him in the ways of Mopar and help him out with some parts he needs like a hood and more.
What good is it to know all this Mopar "wisdom" if we don't share it with the young gear-heads?
Welcome to fish school.

100% agree that we need to pass on the knowledge. Even better you help with parts! Makes it a little more "real". Good on you!

That's awesome. You know some folks out there don't understand "these kids" with their stupid "tuners". I get that some of these tuners are indeed more than we imagine. Imagine pulling up next to one of the few and far between that are one of the few that are "more than we imagine" with our old hot rods, and getting smoked. Yeah, not many, but "some" are hopped up 4 or 6's, turbo'ed up and pushing the 400 - 500 hp zone. Imagine the power to weight ratio.... That I get. What I don't tho are the stupid chrome hemmrohide tailpipe that makes an ordinary, say 4 cyl, 4 dr Corolla sound like it has the worst case of flatulence in the history of the world. You know, neverending fart machines. Guess it might be a "little" like some of us that went wherever and for the low, low price of $14.95, or whatever they cost way back when, and picked up a Cherry Bomb or if you had a little bit more you might have gotten a Hush Thrush and throw it on whatever we were able to afford and think it made us cool. Yeah. I get that, but man the buzz from those things drives me nuts. Anyhow, KUDOS to you for sharing and know you are fortunate to have found a youngster that you can pass on the best gift of knowledge to. Subscribed

Welcome aboard! And get used to getting a chill when “Barracuda” comes on the radio.

I have a young 23 year old man in the same situation. He sold his tooner and bought a 1973 Duster with a slant six. I gave him an early 318 block we built with some j heads I had laying around, and he worked around the neighborhood for money for some new KB Hyper pistons, and a new flat tappet cam. I feel like my donations are well worth it. His single mother swears his manners are better and his grades are up. I'm not sure who's getting more out of our arrangement, but I'll help him until his car is finished.

About how much additional hood clearance would you say is gained With that AAR hood?

Are you taking donations for real young men like that? Maybe a new "Future A Body Dude" Grant of parts or money? I can't afford many dollars myself, but I have a few nice parts and a few dollars for kids like this. Moderators, any thoughts on my strange idea?

What a great idea! Too bad I'm broke and no spare parts to contribute. Where you located? I'm in Levittown, PA.

Unless there's already a "young-uns" forum that I've not noticed, I'm thinking it might be a good idea. Any Moderators out there have opinions?

True car guys!
Over the years i have had only one young gentleman that would come hang out and help in the shop. And we did lots of work on his truck. I have met a few guys that have interest, but never followed up on my offers to help.
One in particular, found a nice biscayne and was working on getting it running. But big dreams, and internet solutions for simple problems. No spark? No problem, get an msd. Instead of cleaning the points. Why? Dont know if it will even run. Or move if it does run.

What a nice gesture.
Right now he needs a set of 318 heads.
His were really bad needing seats and seals. He took them to a machine shop locally who said he would get everything done for $400.
That was 6 months ago!
When I suggested finding another machine shop, he told me he paid cash in advance.
So if anyone has a nice set of heads, hit me up.
