The Gear Vendors install thread

so, the new controller works. found out the speedo cable issue is the plastic clip on the dash side snapped off. was a brand new cable :wtf:. i will get to that next year...the GV works awesome. just what it needs for running down the freeway. i've also been playing around with manual mode. that works well too.
only had one chance to try the 2 - 2nd over - 3rd - 3rd over shifting, and i blew though that faster than i should have. that's going to take a little practice and an open piece of road :D
also going to move the indicator lights up to the dash some where. i made a quick control panel for them, and the auto / manual switch, but it's not in a good place for keeping track in manual mode.
don't know that i need to use it in manual. i'll probably screw something up and need a rebuild at some point, but what the heck, it's there. may as well have fun with it :steering:

overall i like it. the car definitely needed another gear at 65+. the down side, i had no way of knowing how much surgery was going to be needed before doing this. GV's site makes it sound like a BFH and a weekend will suffice. i know some guys get away with that...but not on my car. i didn't think it was going to be that easy, and it wasn't any worse than i expected, but anyone thinking of doing this better be ready with tools and experience. all together, i probably have 100 hours into this, and 90 of it was fun:)

but, knowing what i do now, i'd probably go 200r4 next time
