340 X-Heads

Great idea... I thought of that one too.

Some background info...

I could not edit or add a note regarding delivery to my initial ad because it was closed to further comments, so I reposted today. With the powers that be requesting holiday gatherings be small this year, I figured people would be bored at home on Christmas Eve, so this would draw some attention and get members finger tips to begin typing.

When Modern machined the X-Heads, it was my first engine machining experience. I took for granted that Modern would provide flow numbers in their final write-up. All the information that I was provided is detailed in the ad. I reached back out to Bob at Modern when the question was raised, but was told no exact numbers were obtained. During build-up of the 340 engine assembly, I was advised not to use the ported heads, if I was planning to install stock 340 exhaust manifolds and intake. Veterans/"Mopar Professors" have commented that the heads have a significant amount of porting done to them and provided estimations.

I listed the heads for sale with the intention that another member might have a use for them as I do not foresee a stroker small block in my near future. The intent was to inform members interested that I might be able to coordinate a free ride out west as nobody likes paying for shipping.

There are many articles/postings on head porting. Some of the very same members that commented on my posting had similar discussions over the years.

X-heads vs J-heads: what's the difference??

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Please feel free to reach out to discuss further including review of the invoice showing pricing. Should not be a shocker to those that had machining work performed lately "S" ain't cheap!

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!
