Looking for a painter in the DMV area. I have 67 Dodge Dart 2 door. I’m looking to get it painted lime green. These isn’t much rust on the car. Some door dents. Right now it’s moron. So the door jams would need to be painted. The engine bay is already painted black. Looking for a daily driver car not show car. Let me know a price. Thanks

For a complete color change and dent/rust repair - expensive! Could be as cheap as $5K ($5000) on up

EDIT: to the member who disagreed with my post, looks like the “K” after my 5 disappeared. I edited the post to reflect $5000 or more

The guy asked a question and is looking for a local body guy. Im sure someone would appreciate taking on the work, or at least give him a ballpark estimate.

I'll do it for 5k. For another 5k I can make it dissappear without a trace and not have it connected back to you in any way. Then you can claim that sweet life policy. Just nod your head if you want it done. I'll be by later to pick it up. 5 sound OK to you? Perfect I'll swing by around 3. Just leave the money under the seat.

Dont laugh but get a free estimate from Maaco, you would be surprised.
They would be using a Sherwin Williams paint for base prices. A better paint would be more $. Of course you get what you pay for and if you're looking for a really quality paint job, then Maaco may not be the way to go.

I’ll check with my bodyman friend who painted my panel sedan

Maaco is a good choice for low budget, driver quality paint jobs. The more prep work you can do yourself, the better experience you may have.

Seems that with Maaco, the quality of work depends on that particular shop and how much they pay attention to detail. If you know of anyone in your area that has used Maaco’s services, you may want to ask them their thoughts. The Maaco in my area has a pretty good reputaion for the work that they put out. Unfortunately, I am nowhere near you so I cannot recommend them.

Good luck in your quest, its not going to be cheap, but what is no days?

Maaco in Suffolk, VA, does great work. A guy I used to race with is one of their painters and I've seen his work. Better than you'd expect from a chain operation. That's probably farther than you'd want to go, tho.

The paint Maaco lays down is actually pretty good.... They have that figured out and pay their Gunners pretty good actually. Everything else is a crap shoot....

It's not what they do. They will but working on older cars is not part of their business model. Now if you can luck up and find someone to prep it and mask it you can can haul it over to a Maaco and have great results. Seen it done twice at 2 different locations. Easy 10 footers on both cars.... I have looked for a similar scenario not far from you ( Central VA.) and have had zero luck....

For a daily driver quality paint job you could do it yourself. If you went to maaco or some place like that your gonna have to do the bodywork yourself anyway might as well shoot it. As good as that car looks id do a scuff and shoot you would be surprised how good you can make it look with a little practice plus that would be a lesson you will always have. Just a suggestion.

That would work,
But, not sure if he has a compressor and spray gun, plus a place to shoot it.

A air compressor and gun from harbor freight would cost alot less than a maaco job. the place can be a problem if he don't have a garage he can do it outside. I painted my engine bay outside with no shelter and it turned out ok. I do plan on building a plastic booth outside when I spray the rest. I know its not ideal but it can be alot of fun and you can learn alot if your a diyer. Just make sure you have a good respirator and ppe! Follow all the safety rules.

Does Maaco do body work?

Does Maaco do body work?
Yes, my local (Sunnyvale, CA) Macco does body work...they offer 3 levels of paint. 1 year, 3 year, and 5 year warranty. I got an online quote to paint my ‘71 Dart with no body work and the 1 year warranty was $900-$1500.
