How do y’all recommend draining the rear end oil out of an 8.75? Mine doesn’t have a drain plug.
Is there an easier way to do it than pulling the axles and pumpkin? I finally got it sealed up good and don’t want to break the seal if possible.
Thanks

The only way you are going to drain it is pull the axles & third member. If you have the resources & ability, while you have it apart weld an NPT bung with a plug in the bottom of the housing so you can drain it in the future.

I use a siphon gun or a plane old turkey baster.Attach a long hose,I used 5/16'' fuel hose so it reaches the bottom. Do it right after driving so oil is warm.
Is this the best ? NO. Because you can't clean the housing clean and check for problems.BUT when all you want to do is change fluid, you can.

The two articles that Daves69 posted will work for what you want, take a look at them.

Feel lucky!!!! I have a Ferd 9" under my Dart. It's out of a Versailles. Turns out "some years" Ferd put the FILLER PLUG in the 3rd member, some years in the housing. GUESS WHAT? Mine has NEITHER LOLOL I have to fill it either with an axle out, or remove the breather and squirt lube into that.

Well, that'll teach ya for using them inferior F*rd parts in your superior MOPAR!! ;-)

What he said. Only way to do it without breaking the seal would be to siphon it out the filler hole.

I weld drain plugs into mine now. I may start welding fillers into the top of them too.

Go to Walmart & buy a pump that is used for putting oil in boat lower units. They work great for putting oil in. If you put a hose on the part that goes in the oil bottle you can use it for a siphon pump. It works really fast and doesn’t cost much.

buy a suction gun ive been using these since the 70's for this

I installed a drain plug very similar to how it is shown in the hot rod . com article, except that I moved the plug over about an inch and a half, so the plug is not directly on the bottom, don’t have to worry over mashing the pipe plug with a jack or a large chunk of road debris. To get the last bit of diff oil to drain jack the other side of the car higher,, level the car prior to re filling.
