I have some nice old cast iron. I got a nice griddle when my uncle passed. Ate a lot of food off of that thing when I was a kid out camping. I know its at least 50 years old. I use it on a duel burner propane unit I use for canning. Gonna have to start using that stuff on the flat top electric stove I guess. That bridge burner has been begging for it.
My buddy bought a big old propane griddle at an old farm rummage sale. This thing is huge like 4x3. After tons of beer and butter he had it looking good. Funny thing about that grill... It has swastikas' on the gas valves.

Old school here.
Gas range and oven so no worries about scratching when using my 5 cast iron skillets. I just used the biggest of them to do a standing rib roast in the oven yesterday. You just can't beat cast iron for either roasting or frying.
Oh yeah, I've also done apple pies in cast iron skillets with outstanding results: Easy Skillet Apple Pie Recipe
Also have a really nice hard-anodized non-stick set of cookware for other cooking and an enameled cast iron Dutch Oven for soups and stews.
Quality cookware will outlive you if you care for it right.

Walking into my kitchen just now and I see another new addition. I picked up a cast iron griddle the other day and man it is nice.

It took a while to get it back to a decent condition but now it lives on my stove top, covering the two right hand burner rings.
Its great for pan cakes, taco's, reheating stuff and more.

It took me a few days of seriously wanting to "put it away" before I could fully embrace it taking up two burners but now that it is out and being used it is showing its usefulness.

when we bought this house, it had a gas hook up outside for a grill
now, you gotta know, i despise gas grills (my motto is, if you're gonna use a gas grill, you might as well toss it in the over)
so, i had to do something with that gas hook up and i ended up buying a blackstone gas griddle
had to rejet it to run on natural instead of propane, but boy can you cook on that puppy

I managed to find on CL a new LaCruset pot and pan set. I got it for about 1/4 the price. They are pricey, but if you can swing it, they are fabulous. Ceramic is fabulous.
Agree with the cast comments about not washing. Season a new one, then wipe and regrease after use.
