Old school here.
Gas range and oven so no worries about scratching when using my 5 cast iron skillets. I just used the biggest of them to do a standing rib roast in the oven yesterday. You just can't beat cast iron for either roasting or frying.

Also have a really nice hard-anodized non-stick set of cookware for other cooking and an enameled cast iron Dutch Oven for soups and stews.
Quality cookware will outlive you if you care for it right.
