Supposed to be from an 83 dodge van. /6 4 spd overdrive. Looks like 3 different trans bolt patterns on it. The flywheel and clutch came with it.
Would this work in an A body ? Thanks for any info. AL

I doubt you will have floor clearance. Bear in mind these take the larger 143 tooth flywheel. I would guess the widest pattern is for a NP 4 speed "truck" gearbox. Like the "old reliable" NP435

Sure they used them in vans and light trucks. Last? summer before last? I was hired to assemble an A833 OD with a MARRIED transfer case adapter for a CHEVY. They made these both with Mopar and with Chev bolt patterns, some therefore used in Chevs with an adapter plate

This thread:

A833 in GM trucks?

Near as I can tell the gearbox cases (for GM) came with 3 different setups

(Some were cast iron, some aluminum)

1....Mopar bell pattern with some sort of adapter to GM bellhousing
2....Mopar bell pattern with a GM built bell with Mopar pattern
3.....Special gearbox main case with GM bolt pattern

Not sure, most photos I've seen had special GM input shaft and special GM tail housing.

I'd try it. It might fit. A big block bellhousing will fit in an early A if it's for a 10.5" clutch.

This set up has 10" clutch disc. And I count 122 teeth on the flywheel. Same as my old 1966 A 100.. only difference would be the hole for the front bearing retainer on the A833 overdrive trans.

That is a /6 833OD and 3spd bellhousing. /6 used a 122T and 318 used a 130T wheel and yes for trucks. Has the big hub hole so the 3 spd hub is to small. It might fit a NP435 which has the same size hub as the 833OD.

The $100 question is , will this work to swap an A833 O/D in to an A body ?

I am almost 100% positive it will. Are you askin for you? Because if so, and you go to use it and it won't work, I have one that "will".

No, not for me. I want to list if up for sale if it will work for an A body swap.
I'm looking on Brewers at what they have and there's 2 . The one I have (BH506) and then one for A/F body(BH643). I see no difference.

So what size is the clutch and flywheel ? I measure 10" but see talk of 9 1/2"
Also I remember running across a metal ring, I didn't know what it was. ( probably pitched it ) now I'm thinking it may have been for the big hole in the bell for a 3 spd install .:BangHead:

Al,
I'll be the first one to profess my lack of expertise, so if someone chimes in to the contrary listen to them not me. But I believe the 9-1/2" clutch is for a plain-jane slant and 3-speed. I have a slant 833 OD that came out of my 82 D150, and it's a 10" clutch for sure. I can get more specifics if you need it. I also have a slant bell and 833 OD that came from an F body that will fit in an A body, I can compare the two for fitment if you need it. Sorry to say, if you tossed that ring it sounds like it's the one to adapt a small hub hole to a large one. I have one of those too and can get measurements/photos if needed.
