Here is another item that I found in the trunk of my 68 barracuda, does anyone know what it's purpose was ? What did it do?
Thanks
Bob

Those were a real old attempt at a car alarm. They had to be mounted level and it was wired into your car horn. It worked off a pendulum principle. When your car was rocked it made your horn beep when the contacts closed. I had one or two.

Mine went off in the middle of the night when the wind began to blow (circa 1978). But if I remember correctly, I had it together with an air horn.

Yeah if I recall they had a sensitivity screw. If you made it to light the cat or your dog scratching or the wind would set it off.

Thank You guys, I had no idea what this thing was and yes I can see the sensitivity screw. Anybody want it? it's just going to get tossed.
Thanks again
Bob

I suspect that may end up in the trash, but I want to thank everyone for this bit of history lesson. Never heard of that company or device before this thread. Semper Fi! Good to know that if you touch Bob's Cuda a whole battalion of my beloved Marines is ready to attack. I may never see one of these again, but based on how it works -- even though it only sounds a horn -- it will now be referred to by me as the "car claymore"

That's a good one stackattack I might just have to keep this thing as garage art and put a Semper Fi! picture next to it. Thanks everyone who commented on it.

Thanks dibbons I never know that, I will copy and paste that and it will go along with the Devil Dog garage art.
Thanks again
Bob
There's many references on the internet I'm sure, but here's a pretty good right up for you, Bob, if you are a history buff like me. The Army and the Marine 'Devil Dogs' of Belleau Wood

This is also where GySgt Dan Daly, as it is told, was known to the Germans as "Devil Dog Dan" and said the famous line, "Come on you sons of bitches.....do you want to live forever?" This line has been quoted and reused in countless movies, books, etc. Legendary Marine Corps history. Semper Fi!
