Happy holidays everyone! Before I go find one... does anyone know if a ‘63 Dart grill is plug and play on a ‘64 Dart? No fabrication?

thank you
Greg

It’s not. My parents had a ‘64 Dart back when I was a kid that my older sister smacked a tree with and wrecked the grill. My Dad tried to fit a ‘63 grill from the salvage yard into it and it didn’t fit. Ended up bending and beating it with a mallet to make it fit. It never looked right, but at least it was better than the smashed grill it replaced.

As I recall, the biggest issue was the height difference. The ‘63 is taller.

Thanks Ddaddy. That’s too bad. I’m a fan of the ‘63 grill. Appreciate the heads up though.
Happy new year!

Hi Dart4forte... I’ve always admired your dart. It was the first I saw without the front bumper

Is that your Dart? I think the 64s look good without the front bumper. Hard to see in the pic but I was running nerf bars on the front. Forget which Springfling that was.

The car is now owned by a well known guitarist. Since he’s had it it’s been the recipient of a 5.7 transplant. It’s noe in the Prescott, AZ. area.

Yep, that’s mine. Had it few years now. SLOWLY working on it. Runs great. I’ve only found minimal rust in the lower rear quarters. (Admittedly I’ve never had the carpet out of it through, but it’s not drafty. :). Next on the list is the scarebird disc kit in the garage, new torsion bars, new leafs. I think all the suspension (aside from shocks) is original.
Not numbers matching. The guy before me replaced the /6 with a block cast from ‘68. The car was originally green/black, but somewhere in its life it was painted white/red (and not that well). I love the car though. I try to get my sons into it. (20&17). I’ve thought about doing the whole 318-thing, but I get so many conversation starters with”Slant six???” Besides... it’s a cruiser not a hot rod.
Any advise you have on next-steps... I’m all ears.
Happy new year! 2021 has to be better... right???

It’s fits but you need to use the top bracket from the 1963 dart where the grill mounts on

You need the top piece from the 1963 grill and swap it in as well and it’s a straight bolt in.

Looks great slantsix64. Thanks for that added tip. Certainly aligns with Ddaddy’s story above. Any regrets making that swap?
